Epidurals are frequently used to manage chronic pain. The injection brings anti-inflammatory medication - usually steroids - close to irritated, inflamed nerve roots. This allows higher doses of pain reliving medication with less side effects when compared to steroid tablets.
Selective nerve root injections - targeting single nerves with numbing and or soluble steroids to establish causality for pain generation by one or several specific nerve root(s).
